Grey Bruce Public Health is seeking the public’s help in identifying the owner of a dog involved in an incident on Oct. 22, 2024, in Arran-Elderslie.
At about 7:30 p.m., a woman and her daughter were walking their dog on 1st Avenue North in Chesley – by the municipality’s fire hall – when they encountered a woman walking an older dog towards them.
The two dogs were involved in an altercation, which resulted in the woman who was with her daughter falling to the ground and sustaining injuries. It was reported to Grey Bruce Public Health that the victim may have been bitten by the dog during the altercation.
The older dog is described as being a mixed breed and yellow/tan in colour. The woman walking the dog was wearing a floral t-shirt and black pants.
Staff at Grey Bruce Public Health needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
