Grey Bruce Public Health is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the owners of a dog that was involved in a biting incident on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in South Bruce Peninsula.
Between 3 and 4 p.m., a man was bitten by a brown, medium-sized dog at the Sauble Lodge Motor Inn, 213 2nd Ave. N. in Sauble Beach. The dog is described as being about two years of age, with curly fur, and weighing about 20 to 30 pounds.
The man had been trying to catch the dog after it had gotten free from its leash. The dog was with a family of four when the incident occurred.
Grey Bruce Public Health needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with the rabies virus. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1455.
